A history of firsts

1881
Thomas Ahearn and Warren Soper found the company in Ottawa, building telegraph and telephone infrastructure in the earliest days of electrical communication in Canada.

1891
Their Ottawa Electric Railway puts electric streetcars on the capital's streets. Ahearn goes on to patent an early electric stove — invention runs in the company's DNA.

Ahearn & Soper turns its focus to a new identification technology: the barcode. Hardware, software, labels, and service for distribution, manufacturing, and healthcare follow.
