Thermal Transfer Labels - Synthetic
Synthetic thermal transfer labels use polypropylene or polyester facestocks that survive moisture, oils, chemicals, temperature swings and outdoor exposure. Paired with a resin or wax-resin ribbon, they hold a scannable barcode where paper labels would fail.
Polypropylene vs polyester
Polypropylene (BOPP) handles moisture, refrigeration and general chemical contact at a lower cost. Polyester (PET) steps up to higher heat, harsher chemicals and long-term outdoor exposure, making it the choice for asset tags and drum labels that must last years.
Typical harsh-environment applications
Freezer and cold-storage labelling, chemical drums and containers, outdoor asset tags, wet-process areas, and oily manufacturing environments — anywhere a paper label would soften, tear or fade before the product does.
Adhesives for cold and textured surfaces
Standard permanent adhesives lose grip below freezing and on low-energy plastics. We supply all-temperature and aggressive adhesives specified for frozen application, curved containers and textured or powder-coated surfaces.
Which ribbon to pair
Synthetic facestocks need a wax-resin ribbon at minimum; full resin is required where labels face chemicals, heat or heavy abrasion. Using a plain wax ribbon on synthetic stock produces a faded, smearing image that fails scanning.
